Decking the Halls!

Wow how time flies when you are having fun! Everyone is already gearing up for Christmas which is right around the corner and decorating the clubhouse was at the top of the list so everyone can enjoy it throughout the holiday season! We were right on top of things this year and had the clubhouse decorated before Thanksgiving! We had a beautiful fall day, no wind in sight made hanging the lights easier then last year! The tree was decked out in silver and gold and we even had a train platform....Polar Express can't touch us! After the decorations were up everyone enjoyed sandwiches and cake for dessert. We even had play money and people were able to bid on things at an auction. Fun times with people old and new and next year will be even bigger! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

Franco's Dine In

November's Dine In was at Franco's Restaurant in Dover. Everyone received 10% off their entree. Good times, lots of laughs and delicious food!

Celebrations!

November has been a blockbuster of celebrations at Southern Meadow. We had the Thanksgiving Covered Dish Party, a Holiday Decorating Party and 2 Birthday Parties!
I think everyone has had more then their share of birthday cake......

The first birthday party was for Rosalie. Telling Rosalie that there was a surprise party for another person, she came armed with her own appetizer and a gift! Was she ever surprised!

Getting Ready to toast the person she thought the party was for!

A surprise 70th Birthday Party for Mary Jane, the turnout was HUGE!

Meeting a bunch of Southern Meadow Ladies for lunch at the Stargate Diner they all came back to the clubhouse for cake. Mary Jane was SO surprised!

OHHHH Wine!

Let's have CAKE!

Craft Fair

What a beautiful day to have a Craft Fair. The weather was perfect, no rain, no snow and no wind! A gorgeous fall day! The ladies of Southern Meadow had a craft fair with a chinese auction followed by a catered chinese dinner. They raised over $250 for the Delaware Food Bank. That is an amazing amount of money to contribute to an organization that helps so many people.

Southern Meadow Crafters

Hi Everyone! Do you know how to knit, crochet or sew? If not, would you like to learn? Come join the crafty ladies of Southern Meadow on Wednesdays at 2 or 7 pm and Thursdays at 2pm. The crafty ladies of Southern Meadow will be in full swing sharing their talents and ideas and making things for our "Outreach" programs.

The knitting a crocheting group meets on Wednesdays at 2 pm and 7 pm. On Thursdays, our seamstresses meet at 2 pm.

Our crafters get together on a weekly basis to share ideas, teach new stitches or techniques, or share patterns for our various projects. Even if you're working on something for yourself you're welcome to come and join us. It's a great way to pass the time and it's always more fun doing things together in a group with your great friends here at Southern Meadow.

Over the last year we've been busy making lap blankets, scareves, hats, mittens, baby and children's blankets, and afghans for various organizations. These include the Veterans Association and Kozy Kovers for foster children in our area. In additionk, our seniors help other needy seniors in the area through the Modern Maturity Center by providing items to keep them warm during the cold winter months. Along with much needed toiletry items.

In January we'll have our annual Soup Cook-off and all procedds from this great event go to our "Outreach" fund to help pay for supplies that are needed throughout the year. So start thinking about what specialty soup you'll want to make.

So please come join in on the fun and share your ideas and projects. If you've never sewn or crocheted before, we'd be glad to teach you. And there is always somebody close by if you get stuck between group sessions. We'd love for you to join us!

I went and joined this group last week. I am not a "crafty" person, but wanted to give knitting a try. The ladies made it look SO easy knitting and crocheting, but never looking at what they were doing and holding a full conversation! So over to the clubhouse I went and I asked if I could learn to knit! The ladies were so warm and inviting and had more patience than I could ever have. They sat me down in a chair and taught me how to cast off and then complete a row (I think that is what it was called). Every few minutes you would hear me say "Oops I think I made a mistake" or "OMG I goofed and what do I do?" Every time they came over and calmly and patiently got me back on track. I am going to go back next week and see what else I can learn.....
