Auld Lang Syne!

The New Year's Eve Song - Auld Lang Syne The traditional song for ringing in the New Year in almost every English speaking country in the world is Auld Lang Syne. This New Year Song is generally credited to Robert Burns, but earlier versions of this ballad precede his time. Burns combined a common Scottish folk song with his own lyrics to arrive at the version commonly sung on New Year's Eve. What is the meaning of this New Year's Eve Song? Auld Lang Syne is about old friends who have parted and meet again. To celebrate their long friendship, they share a drink together and reminisce of memories from long ago. The basic message is that we should not forget our old friends and should celebrate a reunion with them. When the clock strikes midnite on New Year's Eve, gather everyone together at your party or celebration to sing the New Years Song and remember the good memories of family and friends from long ago.

Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne?

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd mony a weary
fit Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl't in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand,
my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o' thine,
And we'll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint' stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

Translation:
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago !

Chorus:
For old long ago,
my dear For old long ago,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For old long ago.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long ago.

And there is a hand,
my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill draught (of ale)
For old long ago!

And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago!

Happy New Year EVERYONE!!!

Thank You!

I really can’t believe we are at the end of yet another year!  As I look back over 2012 I have so much to be thankful for.    As a community, we welcomed a new gang of neighbors, a year full of laughter, parties, sharing and caring, we joined the dance craze of zumba and had one rocking Holiday Party and a New Year’s Eve one coming up!  With all of that being said, I want to tell each and everyone one of you that you have a place in my heart, you have included me and my family in your every day lives.  You are the heart of Southern Meadow and with out you I could not do my job.  Thank you to everyone who does an outstanding job of representing Southern Meadow year after year!
Thank you, and from my family to yours we wish you a safe and healthy 2013!

Southern Meadow Thanksgiving!

A crisp fall day sets the scene for our Thanksgiving Celebration at the Clubhouse. This is our 2nd Celebration and the turn out was HUGE! At $5 per person (to cover the cost of the 5 Turkeys, 5 and 2 turkey breasts) and everyone brings a side. Tons of food, tons of laughs and tons of fun! Every year it is getting bigger and bigger. I can't wait to see it next year. We also did a food drive and will continue to run it through the month of December. Thankful for our families, health and friends Southern Meadow is generous in helping others who are less fortunate then we are. Bring a non-perishable item to the clubhouse and let's fill the food banks!

Adopt a Family

Please help us make Christmas bright for a family in need.  Southern Meadow has adopted 3 families through Shepherd's Place in Dover, DE.  Shepherd's Place is a family shelter that provides relief to families and individuals who are in distress or dire economic situations.  Stars will be placed on the Christmas Tree with the families' wish lists.  Please help and donate!  Please wrap your gift and attach the star it and bring it to the Clubhouse by Tuesday December 18th
