Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Karia Chardonnay 2009 Napa Valley Has a 90 Wine Advocate Rating 4.5 stars on wine.com site.  This crisp and fresh Chardonnay opens with aromas of orange blossoms, lemon oil and toasted brioche with sweet cream apple butter.   "Medium" on the richness scale, KARIA charms with its balance of ripe fruit, understated barrel spice, mouth-filling texture and refreshing acidity.   The palate is loaded with flavors of ripe stone fruit and apple blossom that lead to a persistent citrus and spice infused finish.

Lapis Luna Moon Eyes 2007 Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon - Rated 91 and the review from finewinehouse.comThe bouquet has mutltiple layers and evolves with nuances of black cherry, blueberry, violets, charcruterie, black liqourice and dried leafs.  The texture of this Lodi cab exhibits soft dusty style tannins that make it a 10 year plus age-ability wine, medium plus for the body, with flavors of dark chocolate, boysenberry, dill, black pepper and a hint of pipe-tobaco.  Very drinkable!  Will smooth-out by "splash" decanting for 60+ minutes.

Champagne Brut Maison Fondee En 1811 Perrier-Jouet - From klwines.com Perrier-Jouet's Grand Brut is a very pleasant mid-weight Champagne that shows lovely complexity.  Suggestions of smoke, roasted nuts and light honey add character to a generous core of ripe yellow fruit.  The wine offers excellent overall balance and a poised finish.

This is what is making up our basket!!!!  What a bang for the buck 10 tickets for $5!!!  Head on over to the clubhouse.

Zumba-Thon

From the Wikipedia Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive disease caused by a genetic defect in the SMN1 gene that codes SMN, a protein widely expressed in all eukaryotic cells. SMN1 is apparently selectively necessary for survival of motor neurons, as diminished abundance of the protein results in death of neuronal cells in the anterior horn of the spinal cord and subsequent system-wide muscle wasting (atrophy).
Spinal muscular atrophy manifests in various degrees of severity which all have in common general muscle wasting and mobility impairment. Other body systems may be affected as well, particularly in early-onset forms. SMA is the most common genetic cause of infant death.
The term spinal muscular atrophy is used as both a specific term for the genetic disorder caused by deficient SMN, and a general label for a larger number of rare disorders having in common a genetic cause and slow progression of weakness without sensory impairment caused by disease of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brainstem – see spinal muscular atrophies for a comparison chart.

SMA is a horrible disease, our Zumba instructor Jessica lost her son to this disease.  On Saturday April 13th there was a Zumba-Thon to raise funds for SMA research.  Southern Meadow joined over 100 people to dance the day away and bid on a silent auction.  What an awesome fundraiser and hopefully one day we will find a cure.
